The state govt said on Tuesday that more than 53,000 students have benefited from the state’s financial assistance scheme for battery-powered two-wheelers since its launch in 2015-16. The state govt has provided financial aid amounting to INR 56 crore through the direct benefit transfer (DBT) system, aimed at promoting the use of electric vehicles among students. The scheme offers INR 12,000 in assistance for two-wheeled battery-powered vehicles for students from Class 9 to college.

Over 14L houses built under PMAY in state: Over 14 lakh houses have been constructed in Gujarat under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), with 8.68 lakh constructed in urban areas and 5.57 lakh in rural areas of the state. Govt said that Gujarat has received 17 awards so far for the implementation of the PMAY scheme and 64% of the houses constructed under PMAY in the state are owned or co-owned by women.

Adani Airports launches app to enhance passenger experience: Adani Airports Holdings Ltd (AAHL), a wholly-owned subsidiary Adani Enterprises Limited (AEL), has launched a B2B mobile app for airport stakeholders in a bid to improve passenger experience. AAHL manages seven airports with one more expected in mid-2025. The app enables airport stakeholders with access to real-time data through ‘Aviio’ to give passengers easier access to airport information related to security checks, wait times, gate changes and bags on belts among other updates.

NFSU to help probe Lucknow building collapse: A team from the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) will help in a probe to understand the reasons behind a building collapse in Lucknow, which killed eight people. The collapse occurred on Saturday in the Transport Nagar area of Lucknow, also left 28 injured. A three-member probe committee has been constituted for a structural audit. The team will be assisted by NFSU and Uttar Pradesh PWD department engineers.

ABVP protests at GTU for pending issues: Members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student wing of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), staged a protest at Gujarat Technological University (GTU), demanding solutions to several unresolved issues. These included the timely issuance of marksheets, refund of fees for students who were declared pass after answersheet re-assessment, allocation of NCC credits and the cancellation of a INR 300 affiliation fee. As tensions escalated, local police were called in.
