The Fronx is the second model from Maruti Suzuki to be shipped to Japan, following the export of the Baleno in 2016.
Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal announced on Tuesday that Maruti Suzuki India's export of its Fronx sports utility vehicle to Japan has bolstered the 'Brand India' image globally. Over 1,600 vehicles have been dispatched from Gujarat's Pipavav port, marking the company's largest car shipment to Japan. The Fronx is Maruti Suzuki's first SUV to be launched in Japan and is exclusively produced at the company's Gujarat plant.

"Samay badal raha hai (time is changing). A truly proud moment as a consignment of over 1,600 Made In India SUVs from @Maruti_Corp is exported for the first time to Japan," Goyal shared on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.

He attributed this milestone to the Modi government's policies over the past decade, which have aimed to boost domestic manufacturing in India.

"With an emphasis on producing world-class quality products locally, it has helped 'Brand India' become a name to reckon with globally," Goyal said.

The Fronx is the second model from Maruti Suzuki to be shipped to Japan, following the export of the Baleno in 2016.

"Japan is one of the most quality-conscious and advanced automobile markets in the world. Our export to Japan is a testament to Maruti Suzuki's capability to manufacture world-class vehicles that exemplify cutting-edge technology, exceptional performance, internationally recognised safety, and quality standards," Maruti Suzuki India MD & CEO Hisashi Takeuchi said.

The Fronx was unveiled globally at the Auto Expo 2023 and was launched in India on April 24, 2023. It has rapidly gained popularity, becoming the first model in India to achieve 1 lakh sales within 10 months of its launch.

In July 2023, Maruti Suzuki began exporting the Fronx to regions including Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa.

Since its launch, the Fronx has sold over 2 lakh units in both domestic and export markets. Maruti Suzuki currently holds a 42 percent share in the export of passenger vehicles from India.
